TRAIL BUILDING RM

Postby ZMAN on Sat Jan 16, 2010 1:51 pm

Bob has a few suggestions for trail improvement, chime and tell us what you think. I like the idea of improving number #4. It's the cliff trail above the creek at the base of the wall, north of the water treatment plant, instead of the down hiller run it is more of a cross-country trail that was there before. I'm up for helping out.

Click on the picture to enlarge it and make it readable.

This is sort of a first cut, if there are other sections that could benefit from a bit of attention, please post.

Thanks, Bob.

to prioritize i would probably favor #2 and #4. however, i will not have "spare-time" for trail building until after june.

#2 and #4 may actually be the "quickest" to be able to complete and show some progress. #1 and especially #3 are significantly longer and will take more time overall to complete.

How about we put a toll box or maybe add a Fastrax receiver at the start of each trail so we can collect a toll from the non-trail workers???? Must be rightous retirement talking. . . . .

If the rain abates, and I don't go skiing on Sunday, I may like to go out around 1:00, should be okay for trail building and too muddy to ride. You know as soon as the weather improves we won't want to trail build, we'll just ride.

hmm let me see, "righteous retirement talking," i'm not sure. however, if i were to subtract 60 hrs. a week for work, and another 10 hrs. a week for studies (these are minimums) i would have a lot more "spare-time" for trail building. oh, i almost forgot about the family and exercise time required each week. nevertheless, i do know the importance of building and maintaining our great trails that i do enjoy, but i will not be able to help (this is when i get a break in classes)until june.

I'm calling trail building my upper body work out program for the winter. That McLeod gets pretty heavy cutting through the virgin sod.

Are you going to school Rick?

I met the phantom Trail builder, "Mark" really nice guy, and tried out my new McSumBob S-2 Trail building tool. All I can say is "Amazing" it cuts through like a hot knife through butter, it does have some heft and will give you a workout, I felt soreness the next day even in my legs! Mark is doing some awesome work out there too, check it out.
